I AM Someone. And So Are You.
Jean Hooper
Host, Eat, Pray, Hoop
For 25 years I was told I had to BE someone first. That I needed credentials, a platform, a following — something that proved I was worth listening to before I could share what was in my heart.
I was told that wanting to make people smile wasn't a "real" reason to show up. That sharing joy wasn't a career. That passion without proof was just a dream.
And for a long time, I believed them. I waited. I shrunk. I told myself that one day, when I had enough — enough experience, enough followers, enough validation — then I would finally be allowed to do what I was born to do.
But here's what I know now: I AM someone. I always was. And so are you.
You don't need permission to share your passion. You don't need a certain number of followers to matter. You don't need anyone's approval to show up and be exactly who you are.
Eat, Pray, Hoop exists because I refused to keep waiting. It exists for every person who has ever been told their dream was too small, too silly, or too late. It exists to say: you are enough, right now, exactly as you are.
Let's build this community together. Let's lift each other up. Let's believe in each other the way we've always deserved to be believed in.
You are someone. Never forget that.
