Why I Hoop — And Why You Should Try It Too

People always ask me why hooping. Why not yoga, or running, or cycling? Why a hula hoop?

My answer is always the same: because it makes me feel free.

When I pick up a hoop, something shifts. The worries quiet down. The to-do list fades. There's just me, the hoop, and the rhythm. It's the closest thing to pure joy I've ever found in a physical practice.

And here's the thing — it's not about fitness. Yes, hooping is incredible exercise. It works your core, your hips, your coordination. But that's not why I do it. I do it because it makes me smile. Every single time.

Joy is the best workout there is. When you're doing something that genuinely makes you happy, you don't have to force yourself to show up. You want to. You look forward to it. And that consistency — that showing up because you love it — is what actually changes your body and your life.

So if you've been looking for a movement practice that doesn't feel like punishment, I want you to try hooping. You'll look silly at first. That's the point. Laugh at yourself. Let it be fun. And then watch what happens when you keep going.

Freedom is waiting for you inside that circle.
